About Therapy
Psychotherapy is a form of treatment to improve mood, relationships and how we feel about ourselves and our life journey. We only use approaches that have shown in clinical research to be effective.
Therapy can be short term (1 – 6 sessions) or longer term. The focus can be on the present and moving forward and/or on resolving your past. How often you come is determined in consultation with your therapist and could be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.
If you are coming for couples therapy, you will be seeing May who is a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist. The assessment process will involve one initial couples session, followed by 1 individual session with each partner. From there, we will decide together if it makes sense for us to move forward into couples work. Most couples are in therapy between 6 and 20 sessions.
